چکیده

overlay (short axis view) from a cFos-GFP mouse exposed to a dehydration protocol normalized to control. We collected 3D MTC datasets before the dehydration protocol and also 2 hours after dehydration for one control and one cFos-GFP mouse. The bright areas correspond with increased MTR in cFos-GFP mice in comparison to control. In this case, we observed an increase in the hypothalamic PVN (red arrows) similar to what was previously reported and also the thalamus (blue arrows). In vitro and in vivo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) detection of GFP through magnetization transfer contrast (MTC)

Green fluorescent protein (GFP) is a widely utilized molecular marker of gene expression. However, its use in in vivo imaging has been restricted to transparent tissue mainly due to the tissue penetrance limitation of optical imaging. Here, we report a novel approach to detect GFP with Magnetization transfer contrast (MTC) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MTC is an MRI methodology currently ut...

Analytical determination of the chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) contrast in molecular magnetic resonance imaging

Magnetic resonance based on molecular imaging allows tracing contrast agents thereby facilitating early diagnosis of diseases in a non-invasive fashion that enhances the soft tissue with high spatial resolution. Recently, the exchange of protons between the contrast agent and water, known as the chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) effect, has been measured by applying a suitable pulse ...

Detection of thrombus size and protein content by ex vivo magnetization transfer and diffusion weighted MRI

BACKGROUND To utilize a rabbit model of plaque disruption to assess the accuracy of different magnetic resonance sequences [T1-weighted (T1W), T2-weighted (T2W), magnetization transfer (MT) and diffusion weighting (DW)] at 11.7 T for the ex vivo detection of size and composition of thrombus associated with disrupted plaques. METHODS Atherosclerosis was induced in the aorta of male New Zealand...

Magnetization transfer MRI of mouse brain reveals areas of high neural density.

Extending applications of magnetization transfer contrast (MTC) in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the human central nervous system, this work quantitatively describes MTC of the murine brain. As a novel finding, complementing T(1)- and T(2)-weighted MRI, MTC allows for the distinction of densely packed gray matter from normal gray and white matter. Examples include the Purkinje cell layer ...

A Novel Classification Method using Effective Neural Network and Quantitative Magnetization Transfer Imaging of Brain White Matter in Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis

Background: Quantitative Magnetization Transfer Imaging (QMTI) is often used to quantify the myelin content in multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions and normal appearing brain tissues. Also, automated classifiers such as artificial neural networks (ANNs) can significantly improve the identification and classification processes of MS clinical datasets. Objective: We classified patients with relapsing-r...
